NZQA Questions

If a student already has a unit standard does she/he have to repeat this when completing an ACE course?

No, once you have a unit standard you do not have to repeat it. In the ACE courses, all the unit standards are easily separated. The student’s record of learning must be included with the completed papers when they are sent into Health Ed Trust, as evidence that they already have the unit standards.

What is a “hook on” fee and who pays it?

The “hook-on” fee is a once only $25 fee that is paid to NZQA through Careerforce This is paid (usually by the student) at the beginning of any training that contains unit standards. Each student is then allocated a personal, lifetime number for registering learning achievements.
This fee is being abolished from January 2009.

How can I find out if a student has a NZQA number?

The student may have a NZQA “Record of Learning” – the number is on this form or
fax or email to Health Ed Trust the student’s last name, first name and date of birth. A staff member will look up the students NZQA number for you if they have one and fax it back.

How long does it take for the unit standard credits to be registered onto the framework?

This can take up to eight weeks.

Does the student get notification that their qualification has been lodged with the NZQA?

A “Record of Learning” is sent yearly to any student who has registered new unit standards during that year. Records of Learning can be requested anytime from NZQA.

What is Careerforce (CSSITO)?
