Healthcare Education Organisation
ACE Programmes

Health Ed Trust is delighted to offer education programmes for support workers:

  • The ACE Programme
  • ACE Advanced Programme
  • The ACE Dementia Programme

View the diagram to see how the National Certificate In Community Support Services (Core Competencies) and the National Certificate In Community Support Services (Residential) are written into the ACE Programmes.

Do you have staff who have completed some of the old ACE Programmes and wish to swap across to the new qualifications. Please print out this form Cross credit Information  to see how this happens. Please note: Students cannot progress directly from the ACE Core Programme and Supplement straight onto the ACE Advanced Series.  There is some new information in the ACE Programme that needs to be completed first.

For the first time ACE programmes has been written to cater for Home Based and Residential support workers.

ACE Programme:

The first of the three programmes focuses on knowledge and skills that support workers use on a daily basis and therefore need to learn as soon as possible to work effectively in their role. This programme contains 10 unit standards.

ACE Advanced Programme:

The second programme, ACE Advanced Programme, provides all  the remaining unit standards in the National Certificate In Community Support Services (Level 3) Core Competencies.

ACE Dementia Programme

The third  and final programme in this series means students will have also completed their National Certificate in Community Support Services (Residential) (Level 3) when completed in conjunction with the ACE other two programmes.

This programme contains the four compulsory unit standards for staff who work in specialised Dementia units.

This programme can also be used towards the National Certificate in Community Support Services (Diversional Therapy)

If you have completed the previous ACE Dementia Series you do not need to complete this programme as  the content is similar. Students can cross credit the unit standard from the old programme to the four new unit standards.  To find out more details on cross crediting and the forms required go to the ACE Dementia Series page

If you would like to know more about these programmes or to obtain a programme brochure please contact the Health Ed Trust office.

Realistic and User Friendly

Health Ed Trust programmes are ideal for anyone who has not previously completed any qualifications. All programmes contain unit standards towards National Certificates.

ACE Programmes save you money

Pay for the programme and materials only once and put through as many support workers as you wish. You then pay a processing fee when the support worker has completed the programme. This fee is $52.

All will have comprehensive easy to understand manuals, DVDs and assessments.

Health Ed Trust On-site Assessors Course

This programme contains the qualification to become a registered ACE Assessor. It contains two unit standards:

  • 11281 Prepare candidate for Assessment.
  • 4098 Use Standards to assess candidate performance.
*It is compulsory to obtain unit standard 4098 if you wish to become an ACE Assessor.

This course requires a prospective Assessor to document the assessment process for two students as they each assess a topic from the ACE Programme. One topic is a written exercise and the other a practical assessment. An observer is required to verify that the assessments took place as documented. The completed papers are sent to Health Ed Trust for marking.

An Assessor Application Form also needs to be completed for an Assessor to become qualified to mark the ACE programmes.

Early Feedback
Trish Darrow, Assessor from Hodgson House in Tauranga had this to say after viewing the Module One DVD for the first time.

"Every person who comes into residential care or who is caring for the elderly should see this DVD before they start work, it is an excellent introduction."
