This is a distance-learning course developed to ensure that On-site Assessors have the skills and knowledge to prepare for and conduct assessment in the workplace. The course is completed on-site and can be started at any time and completed at a pace to suit the learner. Once the subscription has been paid there are no processing fees on this course.
People who successfully complete this course will gain the following unit standards on the National Qualifications Framework:
All potential Assessors will need to complete this Assessor Application Form
and send into the Health Ed Trust office.
The assessor will need to provide the following evidence:
- The assessor must have a qualification at or above Level 3. For example, the National Certificate in Support of the Older Person. a registered nurse; an enrolled nurse; a senior caregiver, Manager or Supervisor.
- Additional skills also required include: proven people skills (such as supervision of staff); communication skills (written and verbal); record keeping skills; lifting and positioning skills; and for dementia education, knowledge and experience in dementia care.
- Every year Health Ed Trust staff hold an Assessor half day session at 12 locations around NZ to enable an exchange of views on the Programmes and to give Assessors a chance to ask questions and learn about changes and new programmes that Health Ed Trust are planning. These days are generally held in September. Please refer to our Seminars page for locations and dates.
