ACE Core Programme - Stage 2

This programme is ending in October 2010. If you have students working on this programme please encourage them to complete it as soon as possible.

This course has been developed in order to provide another step in a learning pathway for care staff in residential care facilities. It builds on the ACE Core Programme and ACE Dementia Series. It incorporates the remaining unit standards required for the National Certificate in Support of the Older Person.

Following are the module titles for the ACE Core Programme-Stage 2.

The module titles for the ACE Core Programme - Stage 2 are:
  1. The Caregiver as Part of an Interdisciplinary Team: contains unit standard 12349 & 1277
  2. Personal Health Care: contains unit standards 496 & 12355
  3. Managing Difficult Situations: contains unit
    standard 525
  4. Communication in a Culturally Diverse Society:
    contains unit standards 1304 & 3501
  5. Health and Safety in the Workplace: contains unit standards 497 & 16700
  6. Produce Safe Food: contains unit standard 16699
  7. Cultural Sensitivity in Health Care: contains unit standard 6422
  8. Support a Person who is Terminally Ill: contains unit standard 5013
  9.  First Aid: contains unit standards 6400, 6401 & 6402
 The First Aid unit standards can be accessed through any private training establishment that is accredited to deliver these three unit standards.

Some students may have already obtained these first aid unit standards from other sources. Evidence of achievement will be required before the ACE Core Programme Stage 2 will be awarded.

Please note: The pre-requisite for the ACE Core Programme-Stage 2. is either
  • The ACE Core Programme including Supplement
  • Unit standards 5012, 5015, 5016, 5019 and 5020.

There are no cross credits to the new programme from the ACE Core Programme Stage 2. All the unit standards in this programme will be discontinued after 2011.
